The Intermediate Unit is a cross between a pre-operative/admissions
and a post-operative surgical recovery room. Intermediate admits
patients that are having procedures that are done in the cardiac
catherization lab to admitting patients for surgical procedures or
endoscopy.
Intermediate also recovers all types of surgical patients ranging
from orthopedic (hip, knee, ankle), general surgery (cholecystectomy,
PEG, Nissen fundoplication, thyroidectomy, hernia repair, tube
placement, appendectomies, liver biopsies, GI endoscopy), vascular
surgery (AV fistula, femoral-popliteal, pseudoaneurysm, AAA stents),
plastic surgery (breast augmentation, breast reduction,
abdominoplasty, liposuction, blepharoplasty, rhinoplasty), urology
(TURP, TURBT, cystoscopies), post cardiac stent/angioplasty. Such
recovery is monitored by experienced staff using state-of-the art
equipment.
Intermediate staff have either an Intensive Care Unit or a Recovery
Room background. The Intermediate staff works closely with
anesthesia. The staff is knowledgeable, flexible, caring, team
oriented and reliable.
